Who’s the new man in K-Jo’s life

Well, we won’t keep you guessing, it’s Hrithik Roshan. After a long deliberation, Karan Johar has finally zeroed down on Hrithik for the role of Vijay Dinanath Chauhan in his remake of Agneepath.

Hrithik was in two minds of stepping into Big B’s shoes earlier, also he was committed to Vishal Bharadwaj’s untitled film after he completed shooting for Guzaarish. Due to which Karan Johar decided to bring Abhishek Bachchan on board as he had always wanted to reprise his father’s national award winning role.

But now Hrithik has finally agreed, a source confirmed “Hrithik has now given a go ahead to the remake of Agneepath considering the universal appeal of the film. He is also keen to do Vishal’s film but has, for now, put that film on the backburner. After Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film; Guzaarish, Hrithik will start shooting for Agneepath.” To be directed by Karan Malhotra, a good friend of Karan Johar’s, the original film was directed by the late Mukul Anand under Johar’s production house Dharma Productions way back in 1990.

Still there is a lot of apprehension surrounding the film, Raahul Anand, the brother of the Mukul Anand who held all the production work for the original even went to tell StarBoxOffice, “"Agneepath is fresh in the minds of the people even today. The film is more like an encyclopaedia of Indian cinema and my brother Mukul had carried immense research before the making of the film. We've seen the fate of Sholay and with due respects to Karan Johar, according to me remaking a classic is not that a good idea, such films shouldn't be touched, they're originals and have a distinct identity of their own.”

As much as we agree with Mr. Anand, to know that Abhishek is not a part of the remake is definitely a step in the right direction and though it would be a challenge for Hrithik, we know he would make Big B proud, what say people?
